Mat 23:33-39
And so I tell you that I will send you prophets and wise men and teachers; you will kill some of them, crucify others, and whip others in the synagogues and chase them from town to town. As a result, the punishment for the murder of all innocent people will fall on you. vs 34, 35 I tell you indeed: the punishment for all these murders will fall on the people of this day! v 36 And so your Temple will be abandoned and empty. From now on, I tell you, you will never see me again until you say, "God bless him who comes in the name of the Lord." vs 38, 39
Jesus is talking to Jewish religious leaders here, but can we apply it to us today?
Even verse 39 that refers to His second coming could be narrowed down to our worship, perhaps?
Is this where we are as a nation? Is this where we are as the Church?
Have we crucified each other over the airwaves and blogosphere to this point? (vs 34, 37)
Are we suffering natural disasters like never before because of this? (vs 35,36)
What must we do as the Church/nation to turn things around? (v 39)
