Mark 1:1-8 John the Baptist has always been a bit of an enigma for me. When you read the description of him in v 6 and couple that with living in the desert, the picture you get of him is not beautiful by a long shot. Then look at his message. It wasn't a goose bump, feel good message. It was one of repentance which the Amplified version explains very well in v 4. Yet all of Judea was flocking out to the wilderness to confess their sins (v5). One distinct lesson here is God can use anyone no matter their looks, or social status. John the Baptist had a "charisma" only God can give with results only God can bring.
