Remember the Poor
For many years, the company I work for has launched pledge campaigns for United Way about this time each year. This year our kick-off included a short but touching video informing us of what is supported through the organization. The angle was geared toward today’s tough economic times while reminding us that we were blessed to still be employed and this was an opportunity to help others less fortunate.
Keep in mind our department has downsized for several years and is half the size it was just a couple of years ago. And even though we are still employed, many of our spouses are unemployed or under-employed. Times are tough for all of us. Our pledge goal was set lower than previous years, but because of the understanding that we must remember the poor, we blew the goal out of the water giving almost double the goal.
Galatians 2:10 jumped out at me in my reading this morning. The one request from the apostles of Paul as he was beginning his ministry – remember the poor.
