from my notebook

My head is full of thoughts, and I have to write them down.

He is the Glue

The Amplified version of Colossians 1:17 tells us Jesus holds everything in life together. He is the glue. Nothing works right without Him; therefore, He must be priority number one in all that we do. Are you seeking His will daily and resting in His provision?

There are definitely times when I could not answer those questions positively. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about resting in His provision. So often we think we have to work ourselves to death, putting in long hours, working multiple jobs, taking very little downtime from our bread-winning roles, or just worrying about making ends meet. We lose sight that, if we’ve been seeking His will, we are where we are because of Him. And if that is true, He will provide. He’ll bring work our way. He’ll bring business our way. He’ll bring provision our way.

I am very much a proponent of working smart, not necessarily hard. Hard work, in and of itself, is not the key to success. It is important to me to have enough time and energy for my family, friends, and ministry. Yes, we must do our part, but if our work or worry hours cause neglect of the other important things in our life, then maybe we’re trying to do His part too.

No matter where we are in life, God knows the circumstances, and He will hold everything together.
