Rude Awakening
Many people in our country are experiencing a rude awakening with this economic downturn. Very few of us have witnessed anything quite like it. Jesus’ words to John about the church of Laodicea seem to ring true for our hearts and state of mind. “For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.” Revelations 3:17
So here we stand pretty much naked before the world. The most properous nation in the world. Nothing we do or try seems to be working. The blind leads the blind, and we move farther away in the wrong direction.
All the while Jesus stands at the door knocking…with all the answers.
