Who is Your King?
In reading in 1 Samuel about Israel insistence upon having a king like all the other nations, I found the following commentary by Matthew Henry to be spot on with many of us today.
We mistake if we think that we can escape God’s justice, by trying to shake off his dominion. If we resolve that God shall not rule us, yet he will judge us.
Thus many who will not have Christ to reign over them, would yet be glad to have him intercede for them, to turn away the wrath of God.
So often we refuse to let God be our guide through life…until something goes wrong and we need him.
