What Are You Afraid To Do?
A friend recently posted this question on Facebook.
“What would you do if you had no fear of failure?”
Some people answered adventurous things like climbing Mt. Everest or sailing around the world. Others responded with livelihood things like music careers or opening a restaurant.
I didn’t answer the question because I couldn’t think of an answer. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying I have no fears. I suppose I could have answered with something like skydiving. That would be fun, if I wasn’t afraid to jump out of an airplane and float through the air. But I was thinking more in line with livelihood than adventurous, and I’ve tried everything I desire to be or do short of stepping out of God’s timing. I’ve done that a few times too.
Sometimes not doing something involves a sacrifice we aren’t willing to make yet rather than fear itself. Yes, we might fear failure in that venture, but many times it’s, “but I won’t make as much money doing what I really want to do, and I have bills to pay.” Materialism may be the real boat you need to step out of.
Maybe you tried it once and got burned. I had a grand opportunity to write several years ago and squandered it. But remember, failure is not about falling down; it’s about not getting back up.
So what are you afraid to do? Don’t let Satan steal your dream. Look deep inside and assess your true fear, then face it.
I needed this today. Been dealing with some decisions. Thanks.
