Remembering is Good
I’ve written before about my fascination with the TV series Mad Men and now PanAm. Both shows seem to be pretty authentic with their history of the 1960s. Of course they are capitalizing on baby boomers enjoying reflecting back on their childhood or younger days. It wasn’t a perfect time, but the economy was definitely better and life seemed easier.
It is always beneficial to look back at where we’ve come from, to remember what we once were whether good or bad. Remembering helps us know who we are and why we are who we are. History reveals mistakes that we shouldn’t make again.
Remembering also reminds us how good God is no matter our circumstances. Several times in the Old Testament people set up stones or an altar to remember a particular time God delivered them or blessed them in a special way. Take some time today to remember when God has intervened or changed something in your life, even if you can’t see the good in it yet.
